Friends and Family; Death and Dying

church     I had a funeral today.  I went see two friends I have not seen in ages, one had died.  He was a dear friend and a precious cousin by my marriage. She (his wife) was in my wedding. I was up sooo early this morning thinking of the old days and our good times together. We never thought of getting old. We certainly never thought of death and dying. While at the church a friend reminded me that we all go back 40 years! I have to laugh--I realized that I know some good looking men. When they were young, I am sure that I thought they were cute. Time has been very good to them. Gray haired and distinguished. They look like men of substance. LOL. Former EO Mayor John Hatcher was there. All of the time he was in office I kept thinking I know him from somewhere. He was my cousin's best friend and from the old days. Was he at my wedding? Was he in my wedding?

Why would a woman drive around with 3 children in the trunk of a car?? Because they wanted to ride there. I heard this blurb on the news yesterday and this morning. They even show a hazy shot of the children getting out of the trunk. Fortunately, a police officer saw the woman put the children in the trunk, he followed her and asked her open it--she gave her explanation. Now she has to explain it to the Judge and face up to 15 years in jail.

This is in the Star Ledger today. Study: Blacks who smoke face higher lung cancer risk. I never met don't anyone who smokes more cigarettes per hour than a woman I met in Atlantic City. I finally understood that second-hand smoke can kill a person who does not smoke. http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/index.ssf?/base/news-4/1138258657202730.xml&coll=1

More bad news concerning UMD. This breaks my heart. I have been trying to let it just roll off my shoulders. But it is having an odd effect on me. With every article I read I feel more off balance and out of sorts. Maybe saying it out loud will help.

Trying to lose weight :-(
