Cleaning My Plate and Other Issues

children at play, kids, girl eating pancakes -- Click for more Information to popup  Now that I am trying to learn how to eat healthier I have become much more aware of the issue of Americans eating larger and larger portions. Biggie fries, 3 all beef patties, etc. you see the ads and they intice you to eat at "their" place.

I did good yesterday. o.k. maybe I could have done better, but I don't think so. However, the next time I go to the movies I will eat before I get to the mall :-( I was so hungry!! And the spaghetti and meatballs at Sbarros always tempt me. Having pasta/meatball girl on one shoulder and salad girl on the other made it hard for me. I did let P/M girl win because I know myself, and knew that I would only pig out by eating directly from the fridge later. Wowee, temptation, temptation and more temptation. Do you want breadsticks on the table? No. Do you want a salad? No thank you. When I looked at the woman at the next table eating that huge salad with chicken breast drenched in blue cheese dressing, I almost lost my resolve. But I didn't. Good for me.

I ate just a third of the spaghetti and one meatball and brought the rest home. I wish I had been able to leave it there but it seems so wasteful. I will have some for lunch today and the rest tomorrow for lunch. Maybe ;-) Trying not to eat too much and also not be wasteful (because children are starving in other countries, per my mom to my 10 year old psyche) is difficult.

While watching RUMOR HAS IT, I only bought a bottle of Dasani lemon flavored water. No calories, odd taste. It cost me $3.25--but that's a whole 'nuther' issue :-(
