Yesterday after I took care of personal business. I stopped in a store call 'Lot Less' (I think that's the name) to look for clothes hangers. I found the molded plastic hangers but passed them by - I like wood or heavy duty plastic hangers with clips. As I was walking out of the store, I saw a small shelf of books. What could I do, I had to take a look. It turns that there was a full section of "remainder" books. Remainders are sort of leftover books that have run their selling course. You can buy $40 books for $5 or less. I have to tell you that I was in book heaven. I started gathering cook books, novels, etc. I saw one beauty written by the two brothers who appraise antiques on PBS channels. The book was just gorgeous. The pages were as smooth as silk, the photography was flawless. Those who love books will surely understand what I was feeling. So anyway, I have all of these books in my arms. I don't have enough money with me but what the heck, I can charge them. Then, I took a deep breath, looked at these lovely books and reminded myself that I am presently cleaning out my bookcases and getting rid of old hardcover books with obsolete facts and paperbacks I should have given away years ago. I left store empty-handed.
Even as I type this entry, I am sitting among boxes and books. However, I figure if I can get them packed between today and tomorrow, I can run out Monday, and buy all of those delicious books I had to leave yesterday. What is my rationale for this going in circles behavior? Like me, many of my friends are readers, there are birthdays coming, anniversaries, and special times that may require a good book to feel better. Of course Christmas is just around the corner. LOL
Yep. I will definately return to Lot Less for sure. I need those books.
